I’ve always been drawn to fixing things, which is what led me to work as a helicopter mechanic in the Army and later through an apprenticeship at HNI. I loved the challenge, but I realized it wasn’t the path I wanted to spend my life on. What pulled me forward was the chance to be creative—solving problems in a way that feels open and expressive. That’s how I found design. It may look like a big leap from mechanics, but to me, both are about building solutions that actually work.
